Toddler Fight Club? Daycare Workers Encourged Tots to Fight, Recorded Them
Three daycare workers in Delaware are facing multiple charges stemming from a video showing them setting up and encouraging toddlers in their care to fight.
Estefania Myers, 21, Tiana Harris, 19, and Lisa Parker, 47, were working at Dover’s Hands of Our Future Daycare when they reportedly encouraged 3-year-olds at the facility to fight.
The kiddie fight club was only recently discovered as a result of an unrelated investigation, but the video police found of the children fighting was from a March 2012 incident.
In the video, which was recorded on a cell phone, the small children were encouraged to fight and even after one tries to hide behind one of the women, he is simply turned around and pushed back into a fight.
Dover Police Capt. Tim Stump told Fox News the video was difficult to watch, saying, ‘The bottom line is that the kids were whaling on each other and the adults were doing nothing to stop it. In fact, they were egging it on.’
If the children would pinch each other, one of the adults would tell the fighting children, ‘No pinching, only punching.’
A full investigation is now underway, with Myers, Harris, and Parker charged with endangering the welfare of a child, reckless endangering, assault, and conspiracy.
They have been on $10,000 bond.
On Monday, the Dover Police Department arranged a meeting for parents and legal guardians to answer questions and address concerns. The video has not been shown to parents or the public, with police holding it as evidence.
The big question being: Why would anyone do this?
