When Obama was asked about the Fast and Furious program during the Univision forum on Thursday, he falsely claimed the failed program began under President George W. Bush.
And why not? It’s simply another in the litany of his disastrous schemes that he conveniently attempts to blame on the Bush administration — although Obama‘s been in office nearly four full years.
“I think it’s important for us to understand that the Fast and Furious program was a field-initiated program begun under the previous administration,” the president said. “When Eric Holder found out about it, he discontinued it. We assigned a inspector general to do a thorough report that was just issued, confirming that in fact Eric Holder did not know about this, that he took prompt action and the people who did initiate this were held accountable.”
In fact, Fast and Furious, a bungled gun-running scheme that resulted in countless deaths — including AZ Border patrol Agent Brian Terry — was started in October 2009, nine months into the Obama presidency. It was responsible for putting over 2,000 guns in the hands of the violent and murderous Sinaloa drug cartel.
Hard to believe ABC News ran this report.
Watch as Eric Holder refuses to apologize to Agent Terry’s family. That’s also difficult to believe.
