Buffoonish Biden chortles, smirks at Ryan throughout vice presidential debate; drops 4 points
Let it never be said Seeing Red AZ doesn’t ferret out and focus on the crucial issues for our readers. But by the fourth or fifth time Joe Biden used the unctuous and insincere term “My friend” — made especially distasteful in its overuse by John McCain– we decided to go through the transcript of the vice presidential debate and count them.
Sure enough. Sprinkled liberally among the openly disrespectful smirks, contemptuous laughter, mugging, eye rolling, rude asides, guffaws and cheesy grins were 17 “my friend(s).” (Click on link for a video sampling.)
Our meticulous count was nearly thrown off by Vice President Joe Biden’s derisive assessments of “malarkey,” “loose talk,” and “bluster,” which he hurled at the far too respectful and deferential Congressman Paul Ryan. Additionally, Biden, hogging the time allotments, interrupted Ryan a stunning 82 times during the debate.
Conclusions drawn by the mixed political group watching the debate last night were:
1. People don’t end up voting for Number Two on the ticket.
2. John McCain must have been on Biden’s coaching team.
3. Paul Ryan, nearly 30 years younger than Joe Biden, was the only adult participant.
In the end, the boorish antics didn’t help Biden. A CNN poll taken after the debate gave the advantage to Paul Ryan with 48 to Biden’s 44 percent.
