The quarterback for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Buck Pierce, is in the wrong sports profession. He should be a pro golfer or bowler. Football is too violent for the Buck. Since he joined the Bombers a few years ago he has been injured for two-thirds of the games. He alone is causing the injury premiums the Bombers pay to the insurance company to quadruple.
He isn’t a bad passer or runner, but Buck can’t Duck! He sees those behemoth defensive lineman and linebackers charging towards him and he freezes like a deer in the headlights. And Kapow, off to the emergency room. Buck is on a first name basis with all the ER nurses in CFL cities. And rumour is that he has a soft Mellon, maybe if he would keep his helmet on he could avoid the odd concussion.
And Buck just doesn’t have the knack to turn and run away from the heat. He does a spin-around and turns right into the oncoming path of a defensive bruiser. Then Buck is seeing stars for the next week.
This man has an amazing pain threshold. Almost bordering on the masochistic. As soon as the shakes, vomiting and migraines go away he dons the Blue and Gold uniform and heads back onto the field for more punishment.
This guy has to go to community college and get a diploma in Texas Holdem. At least in that profession he may lose his shirt, but he won’t lose his teeth and memory.
