Want to “get the ball rolling” on overhauling immigration system
Jon Kyl (R-AZ) and Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) have their boxes packed in their U.S. Senate offices as they retire. Before switching off their office lights for the last time, they have nothing to lose working hand-in-glove with Obama. Señor Juan McAmnesty still has four years left on his term though he has never cared about his constituents, in any event. The pre-election lies of McCain and Kyl (ads) are notorious. Their complete disregard for Republican grassroots activists is contemptible.
Hutchison and Kyl have partnered to introduce the ACHIEVE Act, which they tout as an alternative to the failed DREAM Act. Its ultimate goal is the same — to give the gift of legal status to children who were brought into the country illegally by their alien parents.
“We are introducing this legislation that is not dissimilar from what the president has done de facto, which is a way of righting the situation but doing it in the right way,” said Kyl, referring to Obama’s pre-election decision to halt deportations. “We have to get this ball rolling,” Kyl announced at a news conference Tuesday.
The ACHIEVE Act would legalize the illegals in three steps. First, they would receive a visa to attend school or enlist in the military. Then they could apply for a work visa once they graduated or committed to military service. The final phase would grant access to a permanent visa that, according to Kyl, would not provide a “special pathway to citizenship“.…yet.
Their actions have garnered editorial praise in this morning’s open borders Periódico de la República de Arizona (Arizona Republic) and emboldened its amnesty head cheerleader Linda Valdez to call for the state legislature to repeal Arizona’s nationally copied SB1070.
The idea that this bill would in any way restrain illegal immigration is preposterous. This costly legislation encourages rather than depresses further illegal immigration.
Hutchison and Kyl said they’ve briefed their successors — Republicans Ted Cruz (TX) and Jeff Flake (AZ) – on the ACHIEVE Act, hoping the newly elected senators could help lead efforts to pass the bill in the next Congress. While in the House, Flake has long been a strident backer of amnesty provisions In this 2010 Press Release, trying to walk a fine line between the image presented to his then-CD 6 mostly conservative constituents and his allegiance to amnesty, he opined that “comprehensive immigration reform” didn’t go far enough. Look for him to be a key player in efforts to overhaul national immigration laws. Like the DREAM and STRIVE Acts before it, the ACHIEVE measure is sure to win applause from the racist La Raza.
In its simplest form, think of it as state-subsidized lawbreaking — rewarding illegal aliens for violating federal immigration laws. For one thing, the premise of children being hapless victims of the illegality of their parents is shot full of holes. There is no way to verify if Jose came here in the arms of his mother 20 years ago or crossed the border last week. This latest amnesty scheme merely encourage more illegal immigration by sending the message that the U.S. doesn’t take its own laws seriously. The DREAM Act provided younger illegals the ability to sponsor their immediate family members. While current law prohibits sponsorship of illegals living in the U.S., the legislation (which we were unable to locate) leaves open the likelihood that they could, through falsified documents or other means, sponsor their parents who are in the U.S. illegally — creating an even larger amnesty.
However, the illegals, sympathetically called “dreamers” by the liberal media, have rejected the new plan, calling it too “watered down.”
The Department of Homeland Security recently launched this website designed to advertise citizen funded welfare and entitlement benefits to both legal and illegal aliens. The insanity goes on.
