WND
Officials with the radio industry powerhouse Clear Channel have followed in the footsteps of a conservative Washington talk station in concluding that a message regarding the Second Amendment is “too controversial” for people in the Washington area to hear.
“How ironic and maddening that the president is flying around the country, on our dime, trying to sell gun control but I can’t BUY air time to respond,” said Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Steve Vaus, creator of the Buck Howdy character.
WND had reported earlier when officials with WMAL News/Talk refused to sell him airtime for his one-minute message.
Vaus had recorded a song that defies those advocating gun confiscation with one of the slogans of the Texas Revolution, “Come and take it.”
But an email last week from WMAL General Sales Manager Todd Freundlich, forwarded by Vaus to WND, said, “After reviewing the spot with my program director we have determined that it is too controversial for us to air.”
His email continued, “Sorry that we can’t help you with this but if I can answer any additional questions please let me know.”
Today, Vaus said his request to buy airtime also had been rejected by Clear Channel, which operates stations WASH, WBIG, WWDC, WITH and WMZQ in the Washington-Baltimore area.
The email from Ivan Blank, key account director, said, “Steve, unfortunately the spot in its present form is not acceptable to air on our stations. If you care to, we can write a spot for your approval that gets your point out there to our audiences. If that is an option please send us a set of ‘talking points’ and we can give it a go. Thanks, Ivan”
when the insanity is over, the names of those who oppose freedom and the constitution have been noted and there will be hell to pay! I would advise you relocate to china, cuba or venezuela and avoid punishment for your communist actions!
…this commie list is getting longer
Guess they do not realize that what they just said is against our lws here in the USA.
The Supreme Court, Red Lion v. FCC, 1969: “It is the purpose of the First Amendment to preserve an uninhibited marketplace of ideas in which truth will ultimately prevail, rather than to countenance monopolization of that market, whether it be by the Government itself or a private licensee. It is the right of the public to receive suitable access to social, political, esthetic, moral, and other ideas and experiences which is crucial here. That right may not constitutionally be abridged either by Congress or by the FCC.”
Or they are owned by the also illegal cartel:
Almost 100% of the mainstream media is owned by seven companies: Disney, NewsCorp, TimeWarner, CBS, Viacom, NBCUniversal, and Sony. They control everything: movies, television, all the major newspapers and news, and even music record labels.
When one company dominates an industry, it is a monopoly. When a handful of companies cooperatively dominate an industry, it is a “Cartel.” This is what we have with our mainstream media – an elite group that is cooperatively and covertly controlling everything that comes through our television, radio, newspaper, and theater.
Require them to follow the law here in the USA or shut them down.
KBright: Or they are owned by the also illegal cartel:??
Guess the tribe of the cartel?
