Jorges Bergoglio, Pope Francis is the first Pope ever elected from the Americas, he is Argentinian. He Is the first Pope elected from outside of Europe in a thousand years. He is also the first Jesuit ever to be elected. He narrowly missed out on the Papacy eight years ago, coming second to pope Benedict XVl.
