Auction house Sotheby’s will hold an auction on April 3 in Hong Kong and April 26 in New York, offering bidders the opportunity to win a dinner with legendary Spanish chef Ferran Adria and a collection of wines from his groundbreaking El Bulli restaurant, as well as other items from the restaurant.
“The elBulliCellar comprises an exceptional and unique collection of wines, that was created and developed by Juli Soler and the elBulli sommelier team (Agusti Peris, Eloi Sanchez, Isabelle Brunet, Lucas Paya, David Seijas and Ferran Centelles),” Adria said in a statement released by the auction house.
“Due the transformation of elBulli from a restaurant to a foundation, we decided this very special and personal collection should be used to make a founding contribution to help ensure the successful launch of the elBulliFoundation,” Adria said.
Bidding for the dinner with the chef will start at 3,845 euros ($5,000), Sotheby’s said.
“Over the two sales, 8,807 bottles will be offered, with proceeds benefiting the elBulliFoundation, which will focus its activity on ‘Creativity.’ The foundation will study the efficiency of the innovation processes, and how they are recorded and audited, using cooking as a language that interacts with other disciplines,” Sotheby’s said.
