Obama: Only a “Criminal” Would Want to Own a Gun

On a recent visit to San Francisco, President Obama stated that Adam Lanza used a fully automatic weapon to kill 26 people at Sandy Hook Elementary.
Obama must not have looked at the police report stating that Lanza used several semiautomatic firearms, including a Glock 10mm handgun, a Sig Sauer P226 9mm handgun, and a Bushmaster AR-15 style .223 rifle.
Senator Ted Cruz has called Obama “shameful” for continually using the Sandy Hook tragedy to push his gun control agenda.
Catherine Frazier, press secretary for Cruz said: “What’s shameful is the administration’s ongoing politicization of the Newtown tragedy as a reason to ram through an agenda that will do nothing to stop violent crime. Our focus should be on stopping criminals from obtaining guns, which the Obama Administration has failed to make a priority. Sen. Cruz remains committed to the fight to protect and uphold Americans’ fundamental 2nd Amendment rights, and will use any procedural means necessary to that end as guns legislation is considered in the Senate.”
When in Denver, Colorado, Obama stated that he and Attorney General Eric Holder spoke with local law enforcement and “leaders” about “what we can do to protect more of our citizens from gun violence.”
True to form, Obama said: “It’s now been just over 100 days since the murder of 20 innocent children and six brave educators in Newtown, Connecticut — an event that shocked this country and I think galvanized parents all across the country to say, we’ve got to do something more to protect our kids. But consider this: Over those 100 days or so, more than 100 times as many Americans have fallen victim to gun violence. More than 2,000 of our fellow citizens, struck down, often because they were just going about their daily round. They weren’t doing anything special. Just doing what folks do every day — shopping, going to school. Every day that we wait to do something about it, even more of our fellow citizens are stolen from our lives by a bullet from a gun.”
Obama went on to say that “over the past 20 years background checks have kept more than 2 million dangerous people from buying a gun.” He misleads the crowd into thinking that every person who has failed a background check is dangerous and had criminal intentions for purchasing that gun.
Several times in the speech Obama refers to “assault weapons” as military grade firearms to confuse and redefine the words in the minds of the audience. He goes as far as to say that these semiautomatic guns are ‘weapons of war” and should be removed from circulation within the general public.
The background check Obama is proposing is for “criminals” because he wants average Americans to believe that only criminals would want to own a gun.
Obama scoffs at the purpose of the 2nd Amendment – being protection by citizens from a tyrannical government – by saying: “You hear some of these quotes: ‘I need a gun to protect myself from the government.’ ‘We can’t do background checks because the government is going to come take my guns away.’ Well, the government is us. These officials are elected by you. They are elected by you. I am elected by you. I am constrained, as they are constrained, by a system that our Founders put in place. It’s a government of and by and for the people.”
Some of the parents of the children killed at Sandy Hook have vowed to make it their life’s mission to make sure that gun control legislation is passed nationally.
Despite the billions rounds of ammunition purchased by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Border Patrol agents at the El Centro border have emailed a mainstream media detailing that: “Due to budget concerns and ammunition availability, we will not be getting issued any proficiency ammunition for next quarter. In addition to these reductions, we are also being limited to qualification ammo only. What this means to you is that you will not receive the normal 150 rounds for practice and we will not have any extra ammunition for a combat course following normal qualifications.”
Senator Tom Coburn was told by DHS that they have been soliciting for ammunition in bulk to save money. Coburn has received lower estimations than previously calculated by alternative media.
Calculations by mainstream media state that:
• DHS contracted a maximum of 70 million rounds over 5 years
• It was Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) that purchased 450 million rounds of .40 S&W 180gr hollow point bullets
• DHS recently purchased 240,000 rounds instead of the 21.6 million claimed by certain alternative media outlets
• DHS is purchasing such large quantities to secure their orders over time with delivery being only 1,000 to 100,000 annually
• Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers run by DHS need a variety of bullets for trainees (who are actually local police officers sent to these facilities to learn military tactical operations from US Armed Forces)

Shockingly, Robin Kelly, candidate for the Illinois congressional seat left open by Jesse Jackson Jr. blamed those members of the audience at the Aurora Theater that had a concealed permit and did “pull out their guns to kill the gentleman that did all the damage that he did.”
The Indiana State House has proposed that “one officer in every public and charter school have a loaded weapon during school hours.”
This legislation allows that the “officer” be a teacher or principal. State Representative Jim Lucas, champion of this bill said that “several teachers that would love the ability to have their natural right to self-defense recognized and would gladly do this without being paid.”
