Reports are coming in that La Mafia founder and lead singer Oscar De la Rosa was injured in an early morning bar fight in Houston, Texas. The first reports of the incident were seen on the group’s Facebook page.
It is believed De la Rosa was knifed 1:30 a.m. this morning sustaining facial injuries and is being treated at the Memorial Hermann Hospital.
According to KHOU the suspect is known to police and they are seeking the male suspect. It is believed an intoxicated fan had approached De la Rosa earlier in the evening and was kicked out of the bar at the same time De la Rosa was leaving when an altercation began.
La Mafia is an awarding winning Tejano group that started out in 1980 in the Houston area. The group has 37 albums to their credit with two Grammy, two Latin Grammys and numerous other recognitions. The group was recently named by Billboard as one of the top 25 Latin Artists of the past 25-years.
The group’s last performance was on Saturday May 11th at the Pharr Convention Center in Pharr, Texas.
