He accepted the Iconic Man of Style Award from Vanidades publisher Mari Ichaso.
De la Renta thanked his “Latin American brothers and sisters” for the prize and recalled that he has read Vanidades since his career began in the Dominican Republic.
For her part, Mendes showed herself as very close to her family and her roots by reading in public the charming messages she exchanged with her mother and sisters before receiving the Mujer Vanidades award at the ceremony hosted by Roselyn Sanchez and Chinquira Delgado.
Other recipients included Nicolas Felizola, Icon of Style Award for Fashion Design; Sebastian Rulli, Icon of Style Award for Entertainment; and Rosa Clara, Icon of Style Award for Bridal Design.
“It’s a pleasure to receive this prize in New York, where he have an outlet and our product is well accepted, and to share the honor with Oscar de la Renta and Eva Mendes,” Barcelona-based Rosa Clara told Efe, adding that her company has distributed bridal gowns by Karl Lagerfield and Christian Lacroix, and her dream would be to “collaborate with the great Oscar de la Renta.”
