HSLDAPress Release

Dear California HSLDA Members and Friends,
Your U.S. Senator, Barbara Boxer, is a member of the U.S. Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee. The Committee will hold a hearing on whether the United States Senate should ratify the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) on Tuesday, November 5, at 2:30 PM.
It is critical that Senator Boxer hears loud and clear from her constituents about this dangerous United Nations treaty. Senator Boxer is a strong supporter of the treaty.
Please call Senator Boxer right now at her DC office as well as her district offices and urge her to oppose the UN CRPD. Her D.C. office number is 202-224-3553, and you can call her district offices at the following numbers:

Fresno 559-497-5109
Inland Empire 951-684-4849
Los Angeles 213-894-5000
Oakland 510-286-8537
Sacramento 916-448-2787
San Diego 619-239-3884

You can also email Senator Boxer by using HSLDA’s emailing tool to send her a prewritten letter by filling out your information here.
Your message to Senator Boxer can be as simple as the following:

“I urge you to oppose the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This treaty surrenders U.S. sovereignty to unelected UN bureaucrats and will threaten parental care of children with disabilities. Our nation already has laws to protect Americans with disabilities. This treaty is unnecessary and will hurt families by giving bureaucrats the power to decide what is in the best interests of a child with disabilities, not the child’s parents.”

Thank you for joining with us in this battle to protect our children and our children’s future. You defeated this treaty last year. Standing together, we can defeat this treaty once again.
For liberty,

Mike Smith
President, HSLDA

Editor’s note: For those of you who wonder why anyone would oppose protecting the disabled: the issue is not protecting their rights, which is done better in the USA than almost anywhere- it’s about U.S. sovereignty.
