Is the majority of the food you consume in its raw natural state or has it been cooked? Raw food is living food because it still contains active enzymes (its life force sort to speak).
So what are enzymes? Enzymes are proteins that are necessary for all living organisms and they come from at least three sources: metabolic, digestive (from our body) and food enzymes (from living foods). Enzymes found in living food play a crucial role in aiding our bodies in the process of proper digestion, elimination and absorption of vital nutrients found in living food. Enzymes also help speed healing after surgery and chemotherapy, fight inflammation, help boosts our immune system as well as many other benefits.
Importance of enzymes
Dr. Edward Howell, pioneer of Enzyme Therapy said, “Enzymes are substances that make life possible…Without enzymes, no activity at all would take place. Neither vitamins, minerals nor hormones can do any work without enzymes.” Living food contains their natural enzymes but when food is cooked (i.e. fried, baked, grilled, etc.) at temperatures of 107 degrees or higher, the heat destroys the enzymes thereby reducing if not eliminating the nutrient content in that food.
In reality, cooked food is dead food and is the heart of the Standard American Diet (S.A.D.) that sadly many people in this and other western nations blindly adhere to like a religion. If most of the foods you eat are dead foods devoid of enzymes, they will force our body to produce more of them leading to a deficiency in other enzymes that would’ve been available to aid the body in its other functions such as healing and the prevention of illness.
