College is getting so expensive, that many can’t even afford to attend.  A person has to wonder how much equipment theft causes tuition increases.

In the last two years, officials at a southern Illinois university say about a million dollars worth of computer equipment has “disappeared.”  They don’t know if the computers are lost, misplaced or stolen. 

According to regional media sources, in one year alone, officials discovered: 

… 265 are missing from the Carbondale campus and 92 from the Edwardsville campus. They’re valued at more than $460,000.

SIU President Randy Dunn says neither the university nor the auditor knows whether the computers were stolen or whether they simply can’t find them
