Injured homeowner returns fire, fatally shoots intruder (VIDEO)

An Inkster, Michigan, homeowner fatally shot an armed intruder during a gunfight Thursday evening.

The homeowner confronted the armed would-be burglar and was shot in the leg. But the injured homeowner pulled out his own gun and returned fire, fatally shooting the suspect, ABC reports.

The suspect’s accomplices were outside loading the homeowner’s possessions into their car and fled when the shooting started.

The homeowner was transported to Oakwood Hospital to be treated for his gunshot wound. He was listed in serious condition.

The suspect was also transported to Oakwood Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police are still searching for the at-large suspects.
