A new report by WBEZ shows that residents of Chicago are nearly six times more likely to be shot by law enforcement than residents of New York.

Chicago has a population of approximately 2.7 million people, compared to NYC’s 8.3 million, but even still, there are on average twice as many officer-involved shootings in Chicago.

For example, in 2012 there were 30 shootings in New York and 57 in Chicago. When you break down the math it ends up becoming nearly six times more likely to be shot by a police officer while in Chicago as opposed to New York.
