Spanish actress Penelope Cruz is joining the cast of “Grimsby,” a spy comedy with Sacha Baron Cohen, the online edition of The Hollywood Reporter said.
The movie will be directed by Louis Leterrier (“Now You See Me”) with a cast including Mark Strong, Rebel Wilson, Ian McShane, Gabourey Sidibe and Annabelle Wallis.
The story features a secret agent a la James Bond, played by Strong, who is forced to hide out in his hometown and team up with his brother, a soccer hooligan played by Baron Cohen.
Cruz will appear as a philanthropic corporate leader who may (or may not) harbor some devious intentions, according to the entertainment Web site.
The screenplay was created by Baron Cohen, Phil Johnston and Peter Baynham. Baron Cohen is the film’s producer together with Nira Park.
The shoot takes place this summer in England and South Africa.
The Spanish actress, who appeared last year in the crime drama “The Counselor,” is currently filming “ma ma” by Julio Medem, and has plans to act once more with Spanish film director and producer Fernando Trueba in “La Reina de España.”
