(Before It's News)

Announced earlier this year Troy is pleased to say that their new PAR — Pump Action Rifle — is now available. This AR-style rifle is manually-operated, not semi-automatic, and can be owned in all 50 states, even those with strict gun control laws.

The PAR, Troy’s flagship “modular sporting rifle” was unveiled at SHOT Show 2014. For some, the wait has felt longer than for others. But it’s over now, and the PAR is in stores now.

While the PAR shares a great deal with the AR-15 standard, even using many of the same parts, including triggers, the receivers were redesigned not to work with standard semi-auto uppers.

The rifle is designed around the Troy Alpha rail and has a modular fore-end. The pump-action grip is actually a tri-rail with grip panels attached which can be removed and replaced with fore-grips and other accessories.

The full-length top rail can be fit with any number of different accessories including iron sights, red dot sights and scopes.

Troy will offer the PAR in two models to begin with, one with a folding five-position stock and one with a fixed stock, both in 5.56 NATO/.223 Remington. Troy can use folding stocks with the PAR as the rifle doesn’t use a buffer system.

These rifles have 1-in-7 barrels for use with heavier bullets. Future models will be offered in .300 AAC Blackout, .308 Winchester and .300 Winchester Short Magnum.

Other specifications include:

  • Weight: six pounds
  • Length 34 to 36 inches, extended, 26 inches folded
  • Capacity: 10-round magazine
  • Receiver: billet machined upper and lower receiver, M4 feed ramps, MIL-SPEC anodized finish
  • Barrel: 16-inch” Melonite nitrocarburized barrel
  • Rifling: 1 turn in 7” right hand twist
  • Two-chamber muzzle break
  • Troy BattleAx Control Grip
  • Troy Rear Folding BattleSight
  • Troy Front Folding BattleSight

These initial rifles are hitting the market at around $975. While they are marketed towards people living with restricted gun ownership laws the PAR has a certain appeal to shooters everywhere, especially hunters who are prohibited from using semi-automatic rifles.

More details can be found at the Troy website.
