Barcelona will aim to strengthen its position at the top of La Liga after it hosts Athletic Bilbao this weekend at Camp Nou.
Barça comes into Saturday’s match having beaten Elche and Villarreal in its first two matches.
The two-week international break affected Barcelona less than some of its rivals, as Xavi Hernandez, Gerard Pique, Andres Iniesta and Lionel Messi were not called up to play for their respective national teams.
First-year manager Luis Enrique used young players such as Munir El Haddadi, Sandro and Rafinha in the first two games. With Neymar’s recovery from injury and the return of Xavi after a much-needed rest, the starting 11 might see some changes, especially given that the Catalan club will face a Champions League match midweek.
Enrique is expected to field Neymar and Messi in two of the three forward slots, while Munir and Pedro will vie for the third.
Bilbao, meanwhile, heads to Barcelona with the intention of ending a run of 10 consecutive defeats at Camp Nou. The Basque team has not won a single match in the Blaugrana fortress for the past 14 years.
