On Word ISIS Beheadings Planned, Australian Police Sweep Homes in Nation’s Largest ‘Terror Raid’
The Australian is reporting that a series of anti-terrorism raids took place today in Sydney and Brisbane on word that Islamic State supporters were planning to publicly execute people there.
Some 800 of police officers took part in the raids, arresting 15 men in what represents the largest anti-terrorism operation in the country’s history.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott told reporters, “The exhortations, quite direct exhortations, were coming from an Australian who is apparently quite senior in ISIL to networks of support back in Australia to conduct demonstration killings here in this country. So this is not just suspicion, this is intent and that’s why the police and security agencies decided to act in the way they have.”
The Australian government believes that at least 60 Australians have joined Islamic State to fight in Iraq and Syria, with another 100 Australians supporting ISIL/ISIS from home.
This latest plan, which had allegedly been in the works for months, involved the ISIL supporters randomly grabbing a member of the public off the street to behead him or her live on camera.
To “help protect Australia from terrorism,” the “national security information campaign reminds Australians to remain vigilant and report possible signs of terrorism to the National Security Hotline on 1800 123 400.”
This is the new level of insanity the world is at, apparently.
