On this week’s show, David McAlvany returns and Peter Lavelle, a journalist and CrossTalk host at RT, leads a discussion with Alexander Mercouris, Amitav Acharya and Dr. Enze Han on “What the West loses by alienating Russia?” In the second hour, Daniel McAdams will join me to talk about the latest geopolitical events and David Jensen will talk about how geopolitics and market manipulation are impacting the precious metals markets. What does the West seek to gain by having another cold war with Russia? Why is keeping the Ukraine out of the hands of NATO so important to Russia? What impact might this conflict have in the overall political and economic landscape? From our point of view as investors, how do we best prepare for the impacts this conflict may have on our own economic and personal safety.

David Jensen

David Jensen, P.Eng., LL.B., MBA, is a Professional Engineer with a degree in Engineering from the University of Waterloo in Canada (1987). He worked through 1993 on the F-5 Fighter Overhaul program and the Bombardier Regional Jet programs. Mr. Jensen then graduated with a LL.B. degree in corporate and commercial law from the University of Calgary (1997) and an MBA from Univ. of B.C., majoring in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (1999). Returning first to aviation then, after reading Austrian School Economics, Mr. Jensen transitioned to the mining industry from the aerospace industry in 2004 first through his mining industry consultancy, then as Vice President of Corporate Development for Western Copper Corp., and most recently as President and COO of Skyline Gold. Mr. Jensen currently serves as President and COO of a private mining company and provides strategic, operational, risk assessment, and precious metals consulting services through his consultancy, Jensen Strategic.

David McAlvany

David McAlvany is the President of the McAlvany Financial Companies, McAlvany Wealth Management and ICA, a 36-year old precious metals brokerage firm. He has been a featured speaker on radio and around the country analyzing world events and their impact on the global economy and financial markets. David can be heard weekly on his market commentary at www.mcalvany.com David is a graduate of Biola University and an associate member of Keble College, Oxford University, where he studied philosophy and political theory. He then went on to achieve honors as a top salesman with the Southwestern Company and gained extensive business expertise with Morgan Stanley, in California. His international research has given him a global perspective of developments around the world, which helps him avoid focusing too narrowly in his analysis of investment and risk in any give asset category. His interests are varied and he spends his free time with his wife and their children in Colorado.

Daniel McAdams

Daniel McAdams is Executive Director of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity. He served as foreign affairs advisor to US Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) from 2001 until Dr. Paul’s retirement at the end of 2012. In the 1990s he worked as a journalist based in Budapest, Hungary, including as editorial page editor of the Budapest Sun. He also served as special rapporteur for the British Helsinki Human Rights Group while based in Europe, monitoring human rights and elections on the ground in various contentious states, including Albania during the 1996-1998 civil unrest, Montenegro, Georgia, Armenia, Belarus, Croatia, and Slovakia. He was a Phillips Foundation Journalism Fellow (1998-2000) and an American Swiss Foundation “Young Leader” (2006). He holds a BA in English from the University of California at Berkeley and completed coursework for a Master’s in international relations.

Peter Lavelle

Peter Lavelle is senior journalist and host of CrossTalk, presented by the English language channel RT. Lavelle received a B.A. in International Economic Relations, an M.A. in European history, and completed Ph.D. courses in Studies in European Economic History from the University of California, Davis.He was a Fullbright Research Fellow at the Institute of Political Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Warsaw Poland. He has been living in Eastern Europe and Russia for over 25 years while working as a lecturer at the University of Warsaw, a market researcher for Colgate-Palmolive, and an investment analyst for brokerage firms, including Russia’s Alfa-Bank.
