Five passengers with “flu-like symptoms” have been removed from a packed international flight from Dubai and are en route to Hub hospitals, officials said today, after emergency responders in yellow hazmat suits boarded the plane on the tarmac at Logan International Airport.

Massport spokesman Matthew Brelis and state police spokesman David Procopio stressed none of the five ill passengers have been to West Africa, based on what investigators know so far about their travel histories.

The situation “is being treated with maximum caution for obvious reasons,” Procopio said.

Procopio said there are believed to be at least 300 passengers on the jetliner. The Centers for Disease Control in conjunction with local health authorities and U.S. Customs will determine when those still on board can disembark, he said. The two passengers with fevers were removed first and placed in ambulances.

The regularly scheduled Emirates Flight 237 Boeing 777 left Dubai at 8:47 a.m. and landed at Boston’s Terminal E at 2:19 p.m,
