(Before It's News)

Argentine President Cristina Fernandez was released Sunday from the Buenos Aires hospital where she was treated for sigmoiditis for a week and will have to spend 10 days resting, the Presidential Medical Unit said.

The president was released from the hospital because of the “good evolution of the case of sigmoiditis affecting her,” Dr. Marcelo Ballesteros and Dr. Daniel Fernandez said in a statement issued by the Office of the President.

Fernandez will “continue on an antibiotic treatment, special diet, rest and physical exams” at the Olivos presidential residence outside Buenos Aires, the doctors said.

The 61-year-old Fernandez was taken to the private Otamendi clinic last Sunday with a colon infection, known as sigmoiditis.

Fernandez has been advised to avoid “undertaking travel for 10 days,” the presidential medical team said.

The Argentine leader will not be able to attend the Nov. 15-16 G-20 Summit in Brisbane, Australia.
