TND Editor’s Note: Western media coverage on Ebola was “wall-to-wall” last month. Odds are, fears will be stoked anew when the next batch of US cases surface. But there does seem to be some calming of the mass hysteria.
The number of cases are now reported as 13,241 in the three hardest hit countries in Africa, with a 37.38% mortality rate. While hardly something to celebrate, it is worth pointing out that that’s far from the feared 70 to 90 percent mortality rates discussed during the early stages of the pandemic.
