Approximately 1.4 million refugees and other undocumented drivers will be driving more safely and legally as well as sleeping better at night starting next week in California. California’s Department of Motor Vehicles is getting ready for a traffic jam of applications by undocumented immigrants, soon eligible for driver’s licenses next week as Nazi checkpoints are expected to be curtailed, at least that what many hope.

Checkpoint Racket
“Whenever I drive, I always have a lot of fear, especially when I see a police car in the mirror,” Leticia Luna said in Spanish. “I start shaking.”
Cops took away Luna’s car three times between 2011 and 2013 because she didn’t have a license. She said each time she was stopped, it was for a non-existent violation. Luna paid a total of $9,000. in fines and storage fees to retrieve her car from the racket. For years, the scam has been ruling mainly hispanic neighborhoods.
“Now if the police stop me, they won’t take my car,” she said. “It won’t cost me a lot of money.”
Many if not most Hispanics need their cars to drive to work for non-Hispanics. Luna also needs to drive her youngest son to school, go grocery shopping and perform other errands.

Adolfo Lopez, 46, a musician, said he needs the car to drive to events at which he performs. Like most other immigrants, he works mainly for white Americans’ pleasure and needs.
Now, cops’ checkpoints for impounding immigrants’ cars might not be as entertaining for them or as lucrative for the state.
DMV hired over than 900 new employees to manage the new applicants and will be adding about 100 more in the coming weeks, said DMV spokesman Jaime Garza.
The agency has opened four temporary offices and plans to open some on Saturdays.
The cost to issue driver’s licenses to refugees and other undocumented migrants is expected to top $140 million over the next three years.
Some 1.4 million undocumented immigrants are eligible for the licenses with special wording on the front clarifying “federal limits apply” and on the back that the licenses do not establish eligibility for voting, employment or public benefits. California’s state egislature approved the new licenses last year.
Jan. 2 is the first day undocumented immigrants can apply for the licenses.
California cops are well known for harassing not only refugees, but also innocent Americans, such as the young woman they tased after riding her bike, on the ground.
