President Obama announced that the United States and Cuba will begin talks to normalize relations, Russia’s economy nearly collapsed, Sony pictures canceled the release of “The Interview” after threats, Obama granted 20 presidential pardons and commutations, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo banned fracking in the state and Vermont gave up on starting a single-payer health system.
