Did you know that the United States produced 250 million tons of trash in 2010? That’s a lot of garbage! Most of that trash is either recyclable, which is an important thing to do, or can be thrown into a compost heap. Composting enables you to divert a ton of trash from the landfill and creates good, usable soil for your garden at home.

It can certainly be hard for some people to find a way to compost. I mean, where do you put a compost heap if you’re in an apartment building? Hey, necessity is the mother of invention, right? Maybe talk to your property management about starting a building-wide composting program, or finding local farmers who will gladly take your trash.
