Rivers of glacial meltwater flowing over Greenland’s frozen surface may be contributing as much to global sea level rise as all other processes that drain water from the melting ice sheet combined, according to researchers at the University of California, Los Angeles, and NASA. Enjoy!!!
The newest information was published today in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. The investigation is dedicated to the memory of coauthor, Wait for it…………………………Alberto Behar of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Pasadena, California, who perished in a small-plane crash in Los Angeles on Jan. 9th, 2015.
80% of Greenland, which is about the size of the United States west of the Rocky Mountains, is covered by ice, which has the possibilities to make a considerable contribution to sea level rise as it melts.
Due to the fact Greenland’s ice sheet is vast and challenging to study from ground level, scientists are still learning about the many functions by which its melting water actually reaches the ocean. This is the first study of the drainage system of rivers and streams that forms atop the ice sheet in summer.
What I find incredible is the fact that all this was dedicated to a murdered scientist simply to throw you off from the real explanation as to why he was disposed of. What did he know that “They” didn’t want us to know?

The GRACE (Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment) satellite data shows “Between the beginning of June 2013 and the beginning of June 2014, which corresponds closely to the period between the onsets of the 2013 and 2014 melt seasons, there was virtually no net change in cumulative ice sheet mass.”
Data after June, 2014, is “not available,” which simply means the ice sheet is growing bigger.
There is surface melt in Greenland EVERY summer. Forever.
The amount of melt is ESTIMATED by the TEMPERATURE DATA derived from the SSMIS satellites.
They don’t measure temperature directly. They measure irradiance.
You know, that part of the infra-red spectrum that just radiates into outer space, not blocked by anything.
The radiational cooling unaffected by water vapor, or carbon dioxide, or anything else. THAT irradiance.
So what you’ve got is guesswork about how much melt there is, based on interpreting how bright the air is above glistening white Greenland.
The ice sheet is below freezing all year, and it is covered with ice and snow. REFLECTIVE ice and snow.
MOST of Greenland is above the Arctic Circle, and the ice sheet is NOT going to melt, as long as the North Pole stays where it is.
The Special Sensor Microwave Imager/Sounder (SSMIS) instruments measure frequencies between
19.35 GHz and 183 GHz.
Which is not exactly infra-red, though some “far infra-red” is also considered “microwaves.”
