BREAKING: Obama Task Force Demands We Abolish Thanksgiving and Replace It With THIS
President Barack Obama isn’t exactly known for having his finger on the pulse of mainstream America, but this idea — which allegedly came from an Obama task force during a conference call — might be his most misplaced bit of leftist pap yet.
According to a conservative activist who snuck her way onto a conference call with an assistant to the president, the administration is kicking around the idea of replacing Thanksgiving Day with “Celebrate Immigrants Day.”
Susan Payne, the conservative activist in question, said that she heard the suggestion on a conference call with Cecilia Muñoz, head of the Domestic Policy Council and presidential assistant.
“Once this (the controversy over amnesty) is all finished, there should be another executive order that changes Thanksgiving to ‘Celebrate Immigrants Day,’” Payne said of the topic matter of the call.
“I was about ready to blow my top when I heard that,” she added.
She also described the tone of the call as, “How can we make life better for an illegal alien? And basically kicking the citizen out to the curb.” (H/T Truth and Action)
Ah yes, Celebrate Immigrants Day. I can see it now. Instead of our kids making construction-paper dioramas of the Mayflower, they can instead make models of a border fence with a hole in it.
Instead of school plays re-enacting the first Thanksgiving, they can instead re-enact the signing of the illustrious executive amnesty actions that brought us this holiday. One student could play Barack Obama, while two others could play his phone and his pen, respectively.
Instead of turkey and mashed potatoes, Americans could instead eat the enormous tax bill foisted upon them by the increased cost of administration and giving illegal immigrants access to welfare programs.
And finally, to ensure Celebrate Immigrants Day is as offensive as possible, the Lions will still play a game on it.
While I wouldn’t put this above the administration, the fact is that this is the sort of “fundamental transformation” of the United States that the American people can’t stand.
I’m sure this sort of thing plays well with Ward Churchill-type academics who view Thanksgiving as being representative of Western imperialism and decadence. However, I don’t even know any immigrants who would support this idea, much less native-born Americans.
However, the fact that this sounded like a fantastic idea on a conference call — as opposed to reducing all the participants to stunned silence — should tell you a great deal about the sort of people with whom this administration seems to surround itself.
Thankfully, it will take more than a phone and a pen to replace Thanksgiving.
