There are various coincidences that have happened, but very few of them became so shocking as these ones. The following are the top ten craziest coincidences of all time.
In 1858, Robert Fallon was fatally shot, an act of vengeance by those with whom he enjoyed to play poker. Fallon had won the $600 pot via cheating. With Fallon’s seat empty and no other person willing to grab the $600, they found a new player to take Fallon’s place and staked him with Fallon’s money. By the time the police had arrived to investigate the killing, the new player had turned the $600 into $2,200 in winnings. The police demanded the money back in order to pass it on to Fallon’s next of kin – only to find out that the new player turned out to be Fallon’s son, who hadn’t spoken to him in 7 years.
In 1930s in Detroit, a man by the name of Joseph Figlock was to become an unexpected hero to a young mother and her child. As Figlock was walking down the street, the mother’s baby fell from a high window and into Figlock’s hands. The baby’s fall was broken and Figlock and the baby were unharmed. A year later, the same baby fell from the same set of windows, again falling into Mr. Figlock hands as he was passing by. Once again, both of them survived the event with no scratches.
This is one of the strangest coincidences to occur in our time, no matter how you look at the situation. In 2002, two 70-year-old identical twin brothers from Raahe, Finland were hit and killed by trucks while riding their bicycles in a snowstorm. The catch? They were killed in two separate incidents on the same day and on the same road, only approximately 1.5 km apart. Additionally, as the second accident occurred just two hours after the first, the second brother hadn’t even learned that his brother had been killed earlier. Suicide was therefore ruled out.
On July 4, 1826, former Presidents Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, who were once fellow Patriots and then adversaries, died on the same day within five hours of each other. The day marked the 50thanniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Thomas Jefferson and John Adams also happened to be the last surviving members of the original American revolutionaries who had stood up to the British empire and put together a new political system in the former colonies.
This one is one of the most bizarre coincidences in U.S. History that has our heads scratching to this day. The coincidences revolve incidences that occurred between Presidents Kennedy and Lincoln in regards to their assassination. For example, both men were elected 100 years apart (Lincoln in 1860, Kennedy in 1960); they were both succeeded by Southerners named Johnson, and the two Johnsons were born 100 years apart (Andrew in 1808, Lyndon in 1908). Both assassins were also born a century apart (Booth in 1839 and Oswald in 1939) and both died before their trial began.
Q33NY is the registration number of the first plane that hit the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001. It is creepy to think that when you type in Q33NY (all caps) in Word using Windings font, you get the above image. I wonder if Microsoft ever knew such a thing existed in their program and wonder why it has not been removed yet.
In the year 1833, the great poet and author Edgar Allan Poe wrote a novel that detailed 3 starving shipwrecked sailors who only survive by eating the cabin boy, named ‘Richard Parker’. 51 years later i.e. 1884, Three shipwrecked sailors were rescued after the ship sank. They had only survived by eating the cabin boy. The name of the poor cabin boy was Richard Parker. Coincidence?
