LOS ANGELES, Calif.- The third annual March Against Monsanto took place worldwide on May 23, 2015, with marches in 421 cities and 48 countries worldwide. The world over, bio-tech companies are pushing a GMO agenda to own the food supply through genetically modifying seeds in laboratories and trying to push their poisonous product on a largely unwilling human population. Monsanto is the most prominent of these companies, and is generally considered by people of all different political leanings to be the world’s most evil company.

Although many people still do not realize that over 90 percent of soy and nearly 90 percent of the corn grown in the United States is genetically modified, awareness of this issue is growing, as was apparent in the epic March Against Monsanto in Los Angeles today. Genetically modified foods which are approved in the U.S. are banned in many other countries, including all member states of the European Union. The Angelenos participating in the march were very vocal about their concerns with GMOs regarding their health, environment, and future of their food.
Hundreds of people gathered at the corner of Sunset and Vermont in Hollywood at 1pm and set off in a two-mile march north up Vermont Ave. and then west on Hollywood Blvd. ending in Griffith Park. What set this march apart from the marches of the past two years was that no permits were obtained this time, and as hundreds of people of all walks of life and ages clogged the streets of Hollywood, paying no heed to the police officers who sounded their sirens, demanded they get off the street, and threatened arrests. The march continued as families with children and pets, the anonymous contingent, Democrats, Libertarians, people in wheelchairs and with canes, and the Aztec dancers and drummers refused to comply with the LAPD, risking arrest and potential violence. Not only were there chants of “Hell no GMO!” but this time there were chants of human sovereignty and freedom, such as “Whose streets? Our streets!”
