Unless you are living under a rock, like I try to, you have more than likely seen the phrase ’Blue Lives Matter’. Mainstream society seems to be just fine with this phrase. They do not seem to see how it elevates police lives above our own, which seems to be the current trend of this once great country. If we have to celebrate lives, wouldn’t something as basic as #AllLivesMatter, or just #LivesMatter be more suiting to the masses?
#OurRightsMatter should be the next trending hashtag on this topic. If people believe that police lives have more value than ours, we need to educate them that they are not superior beings. They are not above the law and cannot take away our rights, as long as you are willing to educate yourself on your own rights and educate others on the corruption and extreme use of force that LEO’s tend to use.
The current state of our country which spawns simple things such as this hashtag and the thin blue line stickers, which have blown up in popularity, shows how unwilling people are to go against the grain of society and question authority. I guarantee you have seen some item today supporting law enforcement, unless you are still lying in bed reading this. There are daily examples of abuse of power by LEO’s and yet people still blindly follow their teachings.
For an occupation that is not even in the top 10 most dangerous jobs in this country, these people seem to have a lot of support, not just by government, but local people as well. Why can’t people that work in the logging industry get this kind of support? Logging is actually the most dangerous job in this country and we do not have large nationwide campaigns when someone in that industry dies. We as a community should support those that support us, not those that destroy us.
