The US House of Representatives on Thursday approved “fast-track” trade negotiating authority, which President Barack Obama needs to complete a 12-nation Pacific Rim trade pact, although the bill must go back to the Senate for another vote.
The 218-208 House vote to approve the measure on a second attempt in less than one week gives a boost to hopes for swift completion of the Trans-Pacific Partnership, which is central to Obama’s focus on strengthening Asian ties.

The Rabbit Hole Goes Real Deep, Find Out How Deep… HERE
These upcoming trade treaties are, I think, a huge mistake. Don’t get me wrong – I’m all for “free trade.” Here’s the problem:
What’s actually in these trade treaties is unclear. They’re secret. It’s rumoured that one or more of them grant the President and the leaders of other nations the authority to amend the treaties at their discretion, with no oversight. Whatever they decide to do is binding and has the force of law within the signatory nations.
Do we really want to give our President that much power? The power to circumvent Congress and the Court via a set of treaties?
What will the Republicans in Congress have to say when Obama and the other leaders decide to unilaterally prohibit international private trade in small arms and ammunition?
