Lt. Robert Holt
The Braselton, Georgia Police Department has arrested one of its own on charges of kidnapping and assault. SWAT team members arrived at the home of Lt. Robert Holt, Braselton Police Department’s patrol commander, when neighbors called 911 after hearing a woman who was in distress and screaming for help.
According to Deputy Nicole Bailes,
After three hours of negotiations and no contact or communication coming from the residence, SWAT members fired tear gas into the home for fear that there were injured victims inside. Communication was then made with Holt by telephone, and negotiators were able to talk Holt out of the residence.
Once inside the house, police officers found a woman with ‘injuries to her ankle.’ She refused medical treatment. It is also believed that Lt. Holt was intoxicated at the time. During video arraignment, the judge read over the charges, stating that Holt was accused of kidnapping, assault, dragging his wife across the floor, and then dropping her to the ground.
Braselton Police Chief Terry Esco said Holt is on unpaid administrative leave and that he is scheduled to meet with the town’s attorney to discuss the lieutenant’s employment.
