This video is being brought to us via the submit tab by Pete Lucas of Northern Nevada Cop Block. This took place outside of the Washoe County Courthouse in Reno, Nevada.
Pete was prevented by the judge from recording in the court room. He went outside to share his feelings with the public by exercising his First Amendment right to free speech. Throughout the video we see more and more deputies and Reno Marshalls coming out of the building to create an intimidating atmosphere for someone who was breaking no laws or harming anyone.
Even though I don’t think the officers did anything to violate Pete’s rights, they displayed a typical tactic of intimidation by lining up in front of him. I can understand having an officer come outside to investigate the commotion and make sure everything was okay, but the amount of armed men that ended up outside was excessive. I’m glad that they remained calm and didn’t try to silence Pete or try to make him leave.
