The San Francisco Police Department released footage this week of an attempted home invasion that was halted when the homeowner took the suspect’s gun.
The incident occurred around 8:45 a.m. on September 28 when the homeowner walked outside to retrieve his recycling bin from the curb. As he walked back through the garage, he was accosted from behind by a man armed with a gun. However, the homeowner proved not to be such an easy target.
The two wrestled for about a minute and a half before the homeowner gained control of the suspect’s gun, at such time the suspect promptly decided to run away. The gun, as it turned out, wasn’t even loaded, nor did it have a magazine attached.
Anyone with information on the suspect or the crime is asked to contact the San Francisco Police Department’s tip line at (415) 575-4444.
