Bladen County heroin

A seemingly routine traffic stop in Bladen County, North Carolina, Wednesday evening turned up the county’s largest ever heroin bust.

Authorities seized 1,450 bindles – or individual doses – of heroin, with an average street value of between $8.00 and $15.00 each, for a total value of $11,600 to $21,750.

Ronald Campbell, 38, and Tanisha Simpkins, 34, were arrested and charged with trafficking heroin by possession, trafficking heroin by transportation, possession with intent to sell and deliver and manufacturing heroin by repackaging, with additional charges and arrests expected. Campbell is being held on a $250,000 bond and Simpkins is being held on a $225,000 bond.

Bladen County Sheriff James A. McVicker said heroin use in the area has been on the rise, citing the increased availability and cheaper price than common prescription narcotics like Oxycodone, Oxycontin, Percocet and Vicadin.
