You are probably wondering what this random title has to do with Area 51, and that’s a fair enough question. The answer, which is of course top secret, is that Area 51 used to run a project called ‘have donut’ where the US secretly acquired Russian MIG fighters for the purpose of cloning them.

This impressive looking aircraft was also developed at Area 51. Flying at speeds in excess of 2,200 mph, the A-12 plane needs a massive 186 miles just to turn around!

In order to see how well the Soviets could see Area 51 from their satellites in space, the U.S. military used a Corona satellite to see what Area 51 looks like from space. Fortunately, there’s not much to see.

Area 51, such a random name for such a facility, so how did the place get its name? Any ideas? Well, the name simply comes from the map designation of the site, which was the 51st area which the Atomic Energy Commission’s Nevada Proving Ground designated.

the best place to see “stuff” is at base camp–mile post 60 on highway U.S.6– 60 miles east of Tonopah,Nv..if you see a lot of vehicles parked at the mobile homes right off the hiway it means that night their toys will be flying around-a heavy air transport(c-130) parked and/or helis-i have 3rd gen night vision scope—Base Camp was originally built as a emergency landing runway for 51—now they use it for what ever they are testing–when jade helm was going on they trained attack crews there.–pay attention to the signs-the guards are jerks and paranoid-if you are 80 year old grandma and out of gas,food,water they would let you die before helping you!
