(Before It's News)

In order to make room for a bigger convention center, the last remaining tower of Las Vegas’ iconic Riviera Hotel and Casino was reduced to rumble early Tuesday morning.

In a planned demolition, the 2,075-room attraction, which has been closed for over a year now, came down in a matter of seconds around 2:30 a.m.

The hotel and casino previously hosted headliners like Dean Martin and was used in filming the original “Ocean’s 11” in 1960 and the 1971 James Bond film “Diamonds Are Forever”. More modern-era movies that used the property during filming include “Casino” and the latest Jason Bourne movie.

The property, which was purchased by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority for more than $182 million, will be used to expand the Las Vegas Convention Center, which should be completed around the first of the year.
