Truth takes a back seat when passing off RINOs as conservatives
It comes as a disappointment but not a surprise that Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar finds himself targeted for removal from office by the party elites, who are never inclined to back the proven conservative when a malleable squish candidate is in the wings. Dr. Gosar, a dentist, was elected to Congress with no prior political experience but a burning desire to make a difference and challenge the D.C. status quo. He ably defeated Anne Kirkpatrick the incumbent liberal Democrat in his first election. His impressive list of ratings from conservative organizations follows his bio.
Roll Call exposes the shameful antics being used in an attempt to oust conservatives in general and Dr. Paul Gosar, in particular.
Politico reports that conservatives in the House say they are under siege.
“Absolutely, we’re being targeted, absolutely,” said Rep. Paul Gosar, a House Freedom Caucus member who’s seen a group called Right Way PAC drop $211,000 on negative radio ads and mailers (and promise more to come) ahead of his late-August primary. “Over and over again [this year], you see the same thing with them. Look, the Freedom Caucus hasn’t challenged anyone who’s a sitting member. We’ve only played in open seats, but isn’t that interesting that K Street and Wall Street are playing against members?
“This isn’t a game for this year, but a game for next year. This isn’t just a short game, this is a long game,” said Gosar, who’s still expected to win his primary
Richard Viguerie’s Conservative HQ titles it’s coverage of this establishment-led travesty, “Outing Ray Strauss, the Phony Conservative Running Against Rep. Paul Gosar in AZ-4.” Regardless whether or not you live in CD 4 the information is crucial, since the anti-conservative tentacles could reach your district next.
Congressman Gosar has an “A” rating from the National Rifle Association and is the NRA endorsed candidate in the race, yet in one radio ad aired by the deceptive Right Way PAC Ray Strauss is touted as the candidate “to protect the Second Amendment. Right Way PAC’s ads also hit Gosar for “voting to fund Obamacare” when, in fact, he supported the effort to defund the massive takeover of the nation’s health care delivery system on numerous occasions.
The House Freedom Caucus’ mission statement describes the group as “giving a voice to countless Americans who feel that Washington does not represent them. We support open, accountable and limited government, the Constitution and the rule of law, and policies that promote the liberty, safety and prosperity of all Americans.”
No wonder its members are targeted for defeat by well-financed, rampaging political insiders.
