Three people who crossed the U.S.-Canadian border and tried to loop back were arrested last week after agents found guns and other gear in their vehicle, according to the Nov. 20 announcement.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Peace Bridge by Buffalo arrested the trio when they encountered the vehicle early in the morning on Nov. 20. Around 4:30 a.m., CBP officers at Peace Bridge encountered a vehicle after it made a wrong turn on Peace Bridge.
The driver, a 25-year-old male, along with two passengers, a 24-year-old male and 22-year-old female, all U.S. Citizens, said they had accidentally entered the bridge and just wanted to return to the U.S.
During a secondary inspection, CBP officers found two loaded handguns, including a 9mm automatic pistol, a .32-caliber revolver, and ammunition for each weapon. Officers also discovered a duffel bag in the trunk of the vehicle, containing fatigue-style clothing and a mask.
The guns, clothing and ammo were seized and all three were arrested and turned over to Buffalo Police.
