(Before It's News)

The word populist has been getting quite a workout since Donald Trump’s presidential campaign began gaining steam.  After his stunning victory over his 16 Republican primary rivals, the word came into vogue as both a compliment and a pejorative. Those on the left darkly refer to a populist insurgency that brought him to the presidency.  The political haughties who are still reeling from the grassroots surge that put Trump in the White House, menacingly warn that such political figures gain advantage by drawing  support predominately from angry men, the less educated, and the economically marginalized. Not far below the surface are the unconscionable comparisons to the 1930’s rise of Nazi mass murderer Adolf Hitler.

Now Pope Francis, noted for his verbal commitment to the Communist/Marxist doctrine of wealth redistribution — “From each according to his ability, to each according to his need” — is drawing parallels between President Trump and Hitler, as he warns against populism and saviors like Hitler.

In a lengthy interview with Spanish newspaper El Pais conducted as Donald Trump was being sworn in as U.S. President, Francis also condemned the idea of using walls and barbed wire to keep out foreigners.

“Hitler did not steal power,” the brazenly unsubtle pope said. “He was elected by his people and then he destroyed his people.”

Once again the pope exposes himself as a hypocrite, living inside the 50-foot high, ten-foot thick walled Vatican City, amid opulence and filled with priceless treasures, with its Swiss Guard that function as the Vatican’s private military force.

During the presidential campaign Francis ridiculously accused Trump of “not being Christian” for vowing to build a border wall to protect our sovereign nation from invading foreign nationals flooding into the United States not only from Mexico, Central and South America, but from terror sponsoring nations. Presumably Francis is also able to see into the hearts of others and discern the depth of their faith.

Pope Benedict XVI was shuttled out of the papacy at breakneck speed in 2013, the first pope to “resign” in 600 years. He is missed.

Francis, who opted to visit with the Communist Castro brothers in Cuba prior to addressing Congress last year, needs to stay out of U.S. politics. His meddling is neither “fitting nor proper” to borrow a few words from Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.
