Springfield Armory’s foray into the AR-15 world began with a bang in November and its momentum continued into the first day of SHOT Show.
Patrons to SHOT’s Industry Day at the Range lined up to get a look and test fire the new carbine made by the iconic gun maker.
If smiles and thumbs up were any indication, media and buyers were loving it.

The Saint is an attractive AR-15 platform, chambered in 5.56 NATO. The rifle features a matte, black finish that hid most of the dust and grime courtesy of the desert range.
Bravo Company furniture provides a sturdy feeling rifle without the heft. Weighing 6 pounds, the Saint is lightweight and easy to maneuver. The Bravo PKMT KeyMod handguard is constructed with heat shields as well as flexible attachment points for accessory mounting. A Bravo Company collapsible buttstock allows the Saint to at 35.5-inches in overall length when fully extended. That figure drops down to 32.25-inches when collapsed.

The Saint’s frame holds a 16-inch chrome moly vanadium barrel with 1-in-8 inch twist and M16 bolt carrier group. The bolt carrier group is managed by a mid-length gas system matched witha heavy tungsten buffer. The combination results in extra smooth cycling.

The Saint’s merits as a home defense gun have been touted amid claims of its easy, beginner friendly design. With a MSRP of $899, the Saint is a good option for new AR shooters looking to keep prices under the $1,000 mark.
