Beretta’s slick new polymer handgun on the block, the APX, is making waves at the HIT Show in Vicenza, Italy last week and the company is dropping some sneak peeks of their own.
In the above 30~ second teaser video posted last week to their YouTube account, Beretta gives you a good 360 view of the pistol– which is marked extensively in English along with “Beretta USA” rollmarks. Though not listed on Beretta’s U.S. site, they do have it on their Italian page and their English language Defense Technologies site with a complete run down.
Spec wise, we are looking at a polymer-framed, striker-fired pistol in 9mm and .40S&W (17+1 or 15+1) offerings with a 4.25-inch barrel and 7.56-inch overall length. Weight is 27-28 ounces depending on caliber. Three-dot sights, Picatinny rail (MIL STD 1913) and replaceable backstraps come standard.
Italian IPSC champion Roberto Vezzoli breaks down the gun at the HIT Show in the below vid for about six minutes. Be aware though, the video is in Italian, but you do get a peek at the gun’s internals and maybe a good recipe for chicken carbonara, we don’t know. Our Italian is rusty.
Then, of course, there is Germany’s Dr. Hans Von Mannschaft’s video below on field stripping the new Beretta. Doc Von Mann freely admits that he has been working on his English, so it’s slightly more understandable for English speakers than Vezzoli’s above. Slightly.
As for when/if it is coming to America or an MSRP when it gets here? No word.
The gun was announced in 2015 and had been reported as a contender for the Army’s Modular Handgun System but has been absent from trade shows here in the states.
