Democrats Take Over Senate Floor, Refusing to Stand Down Until Sessions Removed
The Senate Democrats attempted to deny the confirmation of President Donald Trump’s nominee to head the Department of Education, Betsy DeVos. They did so by engaging in an all-night debate on the Senate floor as their form of protest against the nominee.
Ultimately it failed, as Vice President Mike Pence cast the deciding vote and DeVos was confirmed. Having already engaged in one all-nighter, the Democrats are a little sleep deprived, but that didn’t stop them from planning another all night discussion of yet another Trump nominee.
This time, the Democrats are going to talk all night long in protest of Trump’s nominee for Attorney General of the United States, Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions. This isn’t surprising as Democrats have been adamant against this pick ever since Trump nominated him.
This was confirmed as three Senate Democratic sources had told The Hill that the lawmakers would be engaging in yet another all night discussion. They would be talking from Tuesday afternoon into the morning on Wednesday. They are doing this as a way to voice their opposition to Sessions.
The reason that they are so against Sessions is because he has been accused of making racist remarks as a United States attorney in Alabama years and years ago. However that is far from the only reason that Democrats are against the Senator. Sessions was one of the first Republicans to endorse President Trump and has been at his side ever since.
A staunch immigration hawk, Sessions hasn’t been quiet on what he thinks of illegal immigration. He led opposition on a bipartisan bill in 2013 dealing with comprehensive immigration reform. We all know how Democrats feel about illegal immigration, as they want to invite every single illegal over to our nation, some without being screened.
Democratic mayors in cities across the United States have shown that they are in favor of illegal immigrants thanks to their sanctuary city policies. Sanctuary cities are those cities and areas that will oppose the federal government and protect the illegal immigrants that are living there.
Some Democrats in California have gone as far as to say they would protect illegals that have stolen Social Security numbers. One prominent California Democrat even stated that some of his family members stole and bought fraudulent Social Security cards. He also defended it, saying that because the illegals were hard workers, it was okay.
Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), serving as the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, voiced her criticism of Sessions on the floor Tuesday. Feinstein was against Sessions calling voting rights legislation “intrusive” on states’ rights.
Democrats are against all forms of voting ID laws, despite the fact that it would significantly cut back on any sort of voter fraud that might occur. If you have to show your ID to vote, then you can’t vote more than once, right? However since these are issues that Sessions is against the Democrats are going to do what they can to stop him from being confirmed.
Again, they went on an all-night discussion on why DeVos shouldn’t be the new head of the Department of Education. They didn’t change enough people on the subject, as only two Republican Senators chose to vote against her. As stated earlier, that led to the Vice President having to break the tie.
Despite the Democrats best efforts, it is doomed to fail. Republicans hold a 52-48 majority in the Senate and all of them have said that they were going to support Sessions. Considering that confirmation for a Presidential Cabinet member only requires a simple majority, there is very little that the Democrats can do to stop it.
The Democrats only have themselves to blame as well. It was their rule change back in 2013 that has allowed Trump’s nominations to go through with a simple majority. Back then, then-Senator Harry Reid instilled what he called “the nuclear option,” which allows confirmations to be passed with a simple majority rather than 60 votes.
Needless to say, the current Democrats are furious that this law is being used to help out Trump’s entire administration. If they weren’t so confident and arrogant that they would control Washington for so long, then they wouldn’t be in this mess. However it has worked out beautifully for the incoming Trump administration.
This isn’t the only time that the Democrats have been attempting to delay or deny people to Trump’s Cabinet either. Ever since President Trump won the election in November, the Democrats have been doing what they could to stop or delay votes on the confirmation hearings. At one point in time, they were doing what they could to stop seven picks at once.

I hope Sessions does financial investigations on each of these and see if they are living withing their means and pay they get to do their job. As we all know, they all accept bribes and live in multi-million $ homes, and flaunt it! They need to be arrested and charged for crimes of bribery and pay to play.
