I felt it was important to post the events being held on the Big Island in remembrance of Fukushima event of 3-11-11. Yumi Kikuchi and Gen Morita are holding these events here, but I feel it is important for all of us to consider participating on 3-11, with prayer, meditation, or whatever input each feels is theirs.

The 6th anniversary of March 11, 2011 earthquake, tsunami and 3 nuclear reactors’ meltdowns of Fukushima, Japan is nearing.  FKH invites you for a prayer, dance and music to raise awareness and fund so that we can invite Fukushima children to Hawaii for 1 month of learning and healing during their summer vacation.

On Feb 10, Japanese media reported that the level of the radiation hit record high, 650 sievert/hour at Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Plant unit 2.  You would die in 30 seconds if you are exposed to such high radiation.

Our work will be more vital than ever to support Fukushima children who have been living in the higher radiation than before, and to raise awareness on this unprecedented environmental and health challenge. It affects all of us in Hawaii and entire Earth in the long run and protecting health of children is vital for human survival.

All the proceed of these two events goes to this summer’s FKH program, inviting children from Fukushima to Kona for learning, healing and giving them a one month respite from radiation exposure during the summer vacation.

To host one child for a month including airfare costs about $3000~4000. Thanks to the generous support of people participating our fundraisers, FKH have been able to keep the program alive since 2013. We appreciate your participation and contribution. Mahalo & Arigato
