Dynamic Duo at MEOW Cat Rescue, ©Rose De Dan www.reikishamanic.comAs you all know by now, I love Reiki, and I am passionate about teaching and sharing its benefits with others.

For many years I have celebrated my birthday by teaching a Reiki class because it always felt good to do so.

This year I was scheduled to begin teaching a Reiki 1 teleclass that week, but I kept feeling a pull to offer some Reiki and shamanic energy healing to shelter animals on my actual birthday.

The place that jumped to mind first was MEOW Cat Rescue in Kirkland, who graciously granted my birthday wish despite the short notice.

I’m not precisely sure how many cats I worked with, but there were quite a few. There were cats of all colors and personalities, from shy to Leader of the Band. All of them hoping to find their forever home with the capable and loving assistance of the volunteers and workers at MEOW. I’d like to briefly feature two of the special needs cats it was my privilege to meet and work with.

LEROY is a senior cat who has some aging issues which made him a perfect candidate for some energy healing. This video gives a sense of how much he appreciated the session—just listen to him purr! I am hoping that Leroy finds his forever home–he is a sweetheart.

Sweet Pea at MEOW Cat Rescue, ©Rose De Dan www.reikishamanic.comSweet Pea definitely wanted the energy on tap. She was reaching through the cage bars trying to get her paws on my mesa before I even began working with her.

Click here to see video of her demonstrating how good she was feeling at the end of the session. What a wonderful personality Sweet Pea is—she’d bring joy to anyone’s home!

All in all, it was a great day. As I headed out to the more usual celebratory birthday dinner I felt so grateful for the decision—made almost 20 years ago—to take my first Reiki class. Reiki truly is the gift that keeps on giving.

If you would like to learn more about Leroy, Sweet Pea, and all the other cats that currently call MEOW home visit their Adoption Page. Perhaps there is someone waiting to offer you the gift of loving purrs (they have a few dogs, too).
