(Before It's News)

A parrot stricken with an illness that caused all of its feathers to fall out has become an unlikely Internet star thanks to its unique look.

The tiny lovebird, named Rhea, suffers from Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease, a viral condition that leaves its avian victims devoid of their plumage.

After Rhea’s story was shared on Facebook by an animal shelter this year, a kindhearted woman in Boston decided to adopt the featherless bird and provide her with a loving home.

And, in an effort to send the message that beauty can be found in the most unlikeliest of places, Rhea’s new owner began showcasing the curious creature on Instagram.

The overwhelming response saw Rhea’s stardom soar as thousands of people have begun following the bird and delighting in her quite breathtaking appearance.

Some have become so smitten with the bald bird that they’ve even sent Rhea small ‘sweaters’ to help her cope with the cold weather of the months ahead.

So while the old adage may be that birds of a feather flock together, it’s unlikely that Rhea will ever feel alone with so many adoring fans around the world.
