Monetary policy affects the lives of everyone, and most people are unaware of how their nations make financial decisions. The Federal Reserve was formed in 1913. This private group of bankers publicly states that they stabilize economic shifts. Critics say the organization has too much power. There has never been a full, independent accounting of the group, despite the fact they handle trillions of dollars every year.
In 2008, the political world was shocked when Ron Paul, a U.S. Representative from Texas, ignited political interest in young people with his statements against the organization. Soon, millions of people, some of them teenagers, took to the streets, carrying signs reading “End the Fed.”
Although Ron Paul never won his party’s endorsement for president, his calls have not gone away. Rand Paul, currently a senator from Kentucky, is now the top choice for president of the United States among Republicans. Unlike his father, Rand does not propose ending the organization immediately, but has expressed support for an audit of the body.
Bill Still is a leading author and documentarian on the history of money and banking. He is our guest on the show today.
We will talk about the Federal Reserve System and the effect that it has on the average American. We will also discuss the reasons most people are unaware of the policies of the body. We’ll also take a look at how these policies could affect coming elections.
