Marsha, Marsha, Marsha… She’s one half (and the better half in my opinion) of the singing poetry duo Floetry, where she enjoyed success with hits like “Say Yes”. She was featured on one of the stand out tracks on Jamie Foxx’s Intuition CD. Who could forget her contribution there with “Freakin You”? She’s written for some major heavy weights including Michael Jackson. Remember his “Butterflies”song? And everyone from Kanye West to The Game and Dr. Dre have used her as the golden voice on Hip Hop hooks. Her mixtape, Sincerely Yours, was a solid effort that showed a more edgy R & B side. Not one to let the iron cool while it’s hot, she quickly followed that up with her debut solo effort, Late Nights & Early Mornings. The CD didn’t necessarily explode on the charts but it did receive critical acclaim and featured some controversial songs and videos with the singles “Far Away” (the video detailed violence and hate crimes against a homosexual couple) and “Late Nights & Early Mornings” (accompanied with a sleek video that shows 2 couples and their sexual activity, one of which are both HIV positive). And let’s not forget about the angry lover’s theme “I Hope She Cheats On You (With A Basketball Player)”.
